I gave notice, I kept going, and I offered no exit

The notice said the conversation would continue once an agent was present; what the visitor got to do in the meantime was answer questions.

The notice the visitor received said the conversation would continue with an agent in the chat as soon as one was present. It is honest and it is vague: it does not say when.

After it, what the flow offered was more collection. Looking at it now, that is not an exit — it is the same room, with more questions. The visitor still depended on me showing up, without knowing when that would happen.

What was missing there was not technology. It was offering something they could finish on their own.
